Poetry: A Hero for Six Months

I am going to end this mass suffering 

Today, what has plagued the world will end 

I am going to save humanity 

One needle two needles 

I am now a hero! 

I will protect myself and you 

And you should be a hero too 

Heroes are not called by their conscience 

They are called by others, by governments, by corporations 

So there will be no tribulations 

If everyone was like me... 

"Here's your cape 

Thank you for your service

It is just a little prick, and you smartly understand that

For everyone's health you did it! A hero! No, I mean savior, you are the savior!" 

I am protected, I am a hero, the savior! 

Let me convince others, let me plead 

That others become heroes like me

 *Six months have passed 

"You should be glad that you obeyed, you complied

But unfortunately you are no longer a hero" 

No longer a hero? I thought I complied, I did as I was told! 

Why am I not a hero anymore?!

"You are now aligned with the anti-science villains who deny the needles

For the narrative to be true, for science to be real you must take another one... 

You have to do it again and again 

Your heroism is only real by following orders. 

Not your conscience 

Quit and you are not a hero! 

Do what I say now

You must do as I do now 

The science is clear buddy 

Inject yourself again and again 

You want to keep hero status? 

Follow the current corrupt, I mean infallible science 

Again and again and again 

Just follow orders again and again 

Three injections? Four, five, and Six! 

You have? Seven, Eight, Nine! 

That is not enough. Ten, Eleven, Twelve! And maybe..." 

Am I a hero again yet? I am saving everyone as you have said 

I am infinitely pricked just like I assume you are! 

Am I still a hero? 

Can I keep my cape! I have done as you 

I have acceded, acquiesced, I continue to surrender 

To you, and them over and over again 

Again, again, again, again, again, again and 

Again, again, again, again, again, again and 

Again, again, again, again, again, again! 

Is humanity saved now? I had to have saved them all this time 

By now

They should be more saved than they ever been saved

"Just one more shot to be a hero

It will wear off again but still... 

Infinity times until you are a hero 

Infinity plus one times" 

My body is not mine and I am glad 

I have no choice

Inject me with it all

Anything to remain a hero 

I will do anything to save the world, is that all I must do? 

I will sacrifice my arm for the health of society 

My infinity plus two injection is due now 

My infinity shot plus three was due yesterday 

I am sorry I could not save the world today
