It's just another reminder of how malicious, violent, and spiteful hate was and still is. It's rooted in this society.

Picnic vs. Barbecue
"Davis, William C," wrote something to think about.
A Little known Black History Fact. This information can also be found in the African American Archives at the Smithsonian Institute. Although not taught in American learning institutions and literature, it is noted in most Black history professional circles and literature, that the origin of the term "picnic" derives from the acts of lynching African -Americans.
The word "picnic" is rooted from the whole theme of "Pick A Nigger . This is where individuals would "Pic" a Black Person to lynch and make this into a family gathering. There would be music and a "picnic" "Nic " being the white acronym for nigger.") Scenes of this were depicted in the movie "Rosewood"
We should choose to use other words like "Barbecue" or outing instead of the word picnic
P.S. Please forward this e-mail to all of your family and friends and let's educate our people- peace
Since I want to learn from history, "cookouts" and "barbeques" will become the words of my gatherings.

It may not change your vocabulary but I hope everytime you read an invitation that says "picnic" or meet your family at the park for a "picnic" you stop and think. Words mean something. "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words could never hurt me." I guess that saying was meant for the people who wrote it. You have to take the word at face value, but also read behind the words, what's not being said sometimes is greater than what is said. Why do you think most of us haven't learned of this until now. They didn't want us to know.
Let's recap;
Picnic
Barbeque
Picnic
Barbeque
Let's barbeque!
words are crazy bro.
