2pacalypse Now....and Then
2Pacalypse Now - 2pac (1991)
I've listened to 2Pacalypse now like 4 times in the past few days, I probably will keep this in rotation for a few more. This album is as relevant today as it was 16 years ago. I can't believe it's been that long. I can't believe it's been 11 years since 'pac died. I remember getting the news, I didn't believe it. Childhood hero and the most important black man of the past 20 years, gone.
I dont think we're tired of suffering yet or asking for freedom, status, and rights. I mean how long are we going to remain passive?
That's what I think when I listen to this album. Politically charged, experience motivated, and insanely beautiful music by the icon and legend Tupac Shakur. It's not in most people's playlist rotation as much as Me Against the World and All Eyez On Me, both great albums, but I think that this record is probably the most important hip-hop album to have come out in the 90's. If you haven't heard it in a while, re-aquaint yourself with it, like I have. If you've never heard it, do what you can to hear it. You won't regret it. You might even thank me for bringing this album to your attention.
Listen and enjoy the music.
