Rest In Peace Ike Turner

I don't even know that much about Ike Turner and I haven't ever listened to any of his music, probably because I, like most people, associated him with Tina Turner and the abuse. Well I really don't care for the abuse (It is sad) but I really never liked Tina Turner's music that much. From what I'm starting to learn about the man, he was a musical genius (I may have to give Tina Turner another try). A rock 'n roll pioneer. I guess you have to be white for your flaws to be greatly overshadowed by your triumphs. Just look at United States currency. How many white rock 'n roll musicians have drug problems and are women abusers (I'm not excusing it I'm just saying) and those aflictions are never brought up when they pass. Like Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, and Lane Staley. Just read the article linked to the title in this blog and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. Speak well of the man who cares what negative things he did in his life, he's gone from us now. Celebrate him! It's just like Sean Taylor the Washington Redskins football player who died recently. All they ever discussed was his shortcomings and how his death had to have some seedy circumstance. Like the mafia was after him or something. Come to find out it was just some punk kids.
The double standards are obvious when it comes to black and white anything. I don't have to point them out anymore. I'm tired of pointing them out. Celebrate Ike Turner and the gift he gave the world which was his music. I know that's what I'm going to do. I'm now on a quest for all the Ike Turner music I can find. We should get to know the musicians, artists, actors, and athletes who we admire so by surveying and endulging ourselves in their work. The part of their lives they want us to be involved with. Not the shit the tabloids print.
Rest In Peace Ike Turner.
