Black History Month

I try to honor our ancestors in everything I do. I have an old soul that way. Appreciating what those in the past have done for us is something necessary every single day. We as a society tend to celebrate and recognize each other only when corporate America or government delegated dates command us to. From holiday sales to media propaganda, and parades holidays turn critical values of everyday life into trite circumstance.

Let's try to celebrate our love, give thanks, remember our ancestors, strive for peace, and truth everyday not just on the days we're told to. Holidays are a good thing but why does giving thanks and giving of gifts and love end as soon as the holiday is over?

With the impending Superbowl and this being the first day of Black History Month I would like to recognize Doug Williams. Doug Williams is the first Black Quarterback to start and win a Superbowl. Doug Williams led the Washington Redskins in Superbowl XXII to a 42-10 rout of the Denver Broncos. He also won the Superbowl MVP by throwing for 340 yards and 4 Touchdowns, which is one of the greatest performances in Superbowl history. Today he still remains the only Black quarterback to ever win a Superbowl.

Much love to Doug Williams. He turned the Black quarterback from merely an "athlete" to a leader.

How cheesy were those Disney World commercials? I must admit, when I was younger I used to dream of going to Disney World and Disneyland. Now...not so much.
