YES WE CAN!!

It seems to me that it should be "YES OBAMA CAN!" A lot of people are placing all the hope for change in this nation on Barack Obama's shoulders. Even though he's going to be the leader of the "free" world I don't think that change can come from one person. Are we just going to vote (I'm not voting for shit) or are we going to do what's necessary to change the climate of hate and apathy for the poor, homeless, sick, elderly, and uneducated in this nation? Are we willing to attack or even question the Fed and the system of capitalism? Or are we going to object ourselves to same kind of exploitation that we've always been privy too in this nation?

People act as if as soon as he's elected that this nation is going to be changed. It's going to change because he's a Black man and the country was perceived as a nation where electing any one who wasn't a white male. I think change is up to all of us. It seems that voting has become our way of feeling like we're involved. We vote and place change in the hands of officials who generally misuse our money and abuse our trust. I think we as the people (All People) need to really work towards change, together. While we all anticipate the election of a new president to enact these miracle changes (which never ever seem to happen) we all can be doing things to help this nation become the place that it never has been.

I'm very weary of this system and I don't believe that any man or woman of any color can change it. We always use history to determine what people will do in the future. We use prison records, past relationships, past lies.....we're always throwing the past around. But for some reason around election time we always have this false sense of hope, we forget what past politicians and even the current president has done to abuse our faith in this shitty system. we readily accept everything these politicians have to say. We accept who they are and everything about them. We feel they understand us and know where we're coming from. We're always awaiting a savior and I'm sorry but a politician isn't it.

Crucify me if you must but I believe that not voting and knowing why is better than voting and not knowing the issues and voting just because Hillary is a woman or Barack is black. I'm standing for something I don't vote because voting would admit that I'm a willing participant in this system and I accept everything that this country was built upon, stands for, and involved in and that I accept this system of oppression. So I don't vote and won't vote.

Yes we can change! But it's up to all of us to do so and change doesn't mean electing a man because he's black or a woman because she's a woman and change definitely doesn't mean checking some box on a ballot.
