Lay It Down

Al Green - Lay It Down is my Album of the Year for 2008. I don't give a fuck what else comes out this year. This album is just well put together not a weak track on the album. In fact ever track is a masterpiece. The production of Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson rivals the sound of all those classic albums Al Green dropped back in the 1970's. This album kind of felt like it was made back in the day. ?uest did a fantastic job. I know it couldn't be easy for him heading into the studio with a legend but ?uest has a great ear for music. When I heard that Ahmir was going to be producing this album, I thought "Classic!" and that's what it is. This is up there as one of my favorite Al Green albums ever. A list that includes "Al Green Explores Your Mind," "Have A Good Time," and two of the all time classic albums "I'm Still In Love With You" and "Let's Stay Together." I've heard just about everything Al Green has ever put out and the man is just great first of all, one of my favorite artists ever but this album is up there. Straight classic material! It's a great piece of work. After all these years still hitting us with the classics. Go cop this album by any means necessary on whatever format you choose CD, Mp3, Record just go get this album when it drops May 27th.
