Miracle at St. Anna

I cannot wait until the next Spike Lee joint. If you know me I've seen just about everything Spike Lee has Produced, Directored, or Executive Produced. From his first feature "She's Gotta Have It" to "4 Little Girls" his documentary about the bombing of a Birhmingham church during the 1960's to "Tales From The Hood" and "New Jersey Drive." Spike Lee is one of the greatest directors of all time. That's debateable I guess but he is my fucking favorite and that's real. His next film "Miracle at St. Anna" is his first war epic. I CANNOT WAIT! I can't stress that enough. I'm just marking the days on my calendar until it's scheduled release this October. I've been fiending for some Spike since "Inside Man" which was absolutely fantastic.

Here's the description from IMDB;

Miracle at St. Anna chronicles the story of four black American soldiers who are members of the US Army as part of the all-black 92nd Buffalo Soldier Division stationed in Tuscany, Italy during World War II. They experience the tragedy and triumph of the war as they find themselves trapped behind enemy lines and separated from their unit after one of them risks his life to save an Italian boy.

Watch this video of Spike speaking about the film and it's inspiration from a book of the same name. Spike also speaks about race, the race for the Democratic Party Nomination, as well as paying homage to the nearly 1,000,000 Black men who faught in World War II and the Black victims of Nazi Germany who never recieved reparations like the Jews did.

I don't know if you've seen "Undercover Brother" but theres a scene where they list a bunch of conspiracies like "The NBA instituted the three point line so White boys stood a chance," or "I never did trust that Cornel slaves cooked that chicken. Don't know White man know anything about 16 herbs and spices and giblets!" AHA! Shouts to Dave Chappelle he's one of my heros forreal. But another one was "Hollywood really has it in for Spike Lee." They really do. Denzel should have been had an Academy Award for the Best Actor for Malcolm X but lost to Al Pacino in "Scent of a Woman." Bull shit!! Spike mentions more about it in the video. Hold your head Spike! You're the man.

Spike is also planning to shoot a documentary about none other than his Airness himself, Michael Jordan. Big things from Spike Lee. In a world that wants Blacks to view themselves so negatively and view each other so negatively it's so lovely to see Black greatness and that's Spike.
