Iraq = OIL? Afghanistan = Opium!

After Iraq, according to both McCain and Obama, the U.S. has to deploy more troops back to Afghanistan to surcease the rejuvenation of Al Qaeda and the Taliban. I believe that both candidates along with the powers that be in this nation have ulterior motives for Afghanistan.

This belief, conspiracy, or however you choose to classify "the United States is in Iraq for oil," has an underlying premise. I think people associate our necessity with their abundance. I'd like to apply that to the other conflict for which this nation is involved and seems to want to continue to perpetuate, The War in Afghanistan. I believe that just as the United States is in Iraq for control of oil I believe the United states is in Afghanistan for control over opium.

You're probably thinking "for Heroin." Yes, for that too but the opium is for an industry that's not as big (but just as uncontrolled) as illicit drugs but equally important to the American way of life, The Health Care Industry. Opiates are used in all sorts of medications derived, approved, prescribed, used, and abused in this nation. Opiates also drive a billion dollar Health Care Industry. What is active ingredient in all opiates? Opium or some derivative of opium from the poppy plant. What country harvests more opium than anyone in the world? Afghanistan.

We're being drugged not healed. Drugged to the point of apathetic ignorance. None of these medications do anything but give you some derivative effect of heroin. Vicadin, oxycotton, morphine, codeine, and all those other opiates don't heal they just medicate you. They mask your pain, cover it up, hide it until you need another opiate. While causing damage to your liver, kidneys, and brain so you need more drugs. Afghanistan is the world's primary supplier of opium and do you think that with a drug market as large as the United States that the government, prescription drug companies, and HMO's don't have their hands in it somehow? What is the goal of all big business? To turn a profit. Afghanistan is the largest poppy plant grower and exporter on the planet. It just seems feasible to me that while the U.S. is in Afghanistan searching through caves and shit for Osama Bin Laden that they've been grabbing a hand full of smack as well. Why not get in there and control those poppy fields? Money talks louder and influences the behavior of people and politics more than any amount of diplomacy ever will.

The goal of all industry is to turn a profit. So why not get what you need as cheap as possible? How about free or as close to free as possible? A important principle in business is keep costs as low as possible, particularly cost of supplies and labor. The lower you keep your costs the bigger the profit. What better way to keep your costs low than by waging war and stealing what you need? You stage a War in Afghanistan to gain control of plants that are so vital to the TRILLION DOLLAR Health Care Industry.

It's just a thought but I think it's very viable and plausible that the United States is involved in someway with the opium in Afghanistan. There is way too much money involved and certain United States industries, MAJOR industries, are dependent on opium.

The US State Department's top counternarcotics official Tom Schweich claims that Afghanistan is now "providing close to 95 percent of the world's heroin".

What about ingredients for the world's prescription drugs?
