Adaptation

I was in the library reading Adaptation by Andrew Dudley for English class and this heart appeared right in between the pages as my reading concluded. I wonder what it means....

I looked out the window and looked up at the ceiling to try to find the source that projected the shape of a "heart" on my book but like Creationism a source wasn't available to explain the heart.

Do symbols like this mean anything or do we assign our own meaning? Is it objective or subjective?

A heart, the supposed international symbol of love. Heart, a theory that exists only in our minds. People point to their chest when they're attributing something to heart. Why not point to your brain? The heart's function isn't Fed-exing blood all over the body and dealing with love. Our brains are interpreting, developing, and expressing these feelings. Not our hearts.

Maybe the heart is to the body what love is to the human experience that's why attributes of love are represented by the heart through the mind.

So does this heart mean anything? Yes it does, but only what I attribute to it.
