Coon-Jail
"Coonskin" is a brilliant flick. It's like "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" blended with "Super Jail." I can't believe I just heard about this flick a month or so ago. My friend Lester just let me borrow it and man that shit is amazing. The animation is crude but brilliant, the satire is subtle and extreme. "Coonskin" is easily the bar in which every satirical piece of animations should be measured. None being able to jump the high bar of the brutal truths dispersed from the mouths of the films star; Philip Micheal Thomas, Charles Gordone, the soulful Barry White, and legend Scatman Crothers. It was Directed by Ralph Bakshi, a White man, who cosigned this filmed of so much contempt towards the people of his race. I guess he understood the antipathy of the films writer and so many Blacks towards the oppressive forces that influence or sometimes force Blacks to respond with artistic hatred.
It's on Youtube so you need to just sit down and watch it. Watch it with your friends or someone who you think will enjoy an unmerciful but immensely beautiful work of art.
It kinda reminds me of "Super Jail." Skip to the 6:08 minute mark and you'll see what I'm talking about. Well if you're familiar with "Super Jail" you will. Here's a clip:
