see ya, kid

Ken Griffey Jr. has officially retired. He has to be considered the greatest player of his generation and one of the top 20 players of all time. Especially since he is the biggest star that has never ever been linked to any type of performance enhancing drugs. PED's have polluted the baseball climate for over a decade and Griffey Jr. was one of the top producers during an era of rampant cheating. I'm gonna miss him. Down here in Los Angeles I didn't get a chance to see him when he went back to the Mariners but I remember going to the Kingdome and Safeco field to see him. I marveled at my childhood hero. Ken Griffey Junior and Shawn Kemp dominated my childhood, as I'm sure they did a lot of Seattle youth. When Griffey got traded, more than any other star (Randy Johnson, Gary Payton, Alex Rodriguez, Shawn Kemp) it was the most heart breaking. When I played basketball I believed I was Shawn Kemp and when I was on the baseball field I was Ken Griffey Jr. First ballot Hall of Famer without the asterisk.
