Dirt
Who I am and what will I become?
I benefit nothing but disaster
And when I find my worth
Before my demise or thereafter
I'll smile morbidly and dumb
As I rejoin the earth
Before the maggots I was nothing
No success or stature
A life gladly ended
And as the maggots eat faster
And I become their something
I remember the body I rented
What am I now?
I'm not those bones in the ground
The maggots ate what they could
And what they left around
The farmers will plow
And I've become what I should
I benefit nothing but disaster
And when I find my worth
Before my demise or thereafter
I'll smile morbidly and dumb
As I rejoin the earth
Before the maggots I was nothing
No success or stature
A life gladly ended
And as the maggots eat faster
And I become their something
I remember the body I rented
What am I now?
I'm not those bones in the ground
The maggots ate what they could
And what they left around
The farmers will plow
And I've become what I should
