A Summer's Fall

In Summer's warmth we flourished
Inseparable, loving, giving, care free
We were best friends and fiery lovers
Our singular vitality reliant on our being
You were my only reason to smile
I was your laughter alone
Now the Season has changed
As they and we would inevitably do
Tension and turmoil drive us
You are my sorrow and anguish
I am the paint that blackens your sullen heart
Extinguished lovers and the worst failed friends
Our existence as frigid as the Fall air
Fallen like the leaves
