Figure It Out and Wasted Sunsets
Figure It Out
Guidance is what all youth need
A blueprint, a foundation, a model indeed
For success! For survival and sustenance
What privilege has known and provides its maintenance
But when you're left alone all alone
Figure it out
That's what I've been asked to do
No paternal crafted route
When you're inquisitive and worried and shaken
And weary of popular beliefs and popular paths taken
With no guide or attendant
Figure it out
Born to fend for myself in jest
When I needed someone to tell me best
To hold me and comfort and direct me
But all I have is the solace in loneliness to protect me
No one is there to accompany me through
I'll figure it out
I will I will undoubtedly I will
When I have a son born from my fill
And when he asks the same questions I thought deep
I will advise what he feverishly sought to seek
You're not alone
We'll figure it out
Blindly leading him
For my life a guide would never attend
Wasted Sunsets
Time is invaluable and I've wasted much time with you
Never to gain what I lost, wasted on your bogus feelings
Wasted sunsets as the moon rose
Exhausted sunrises as the moon fell
I wanted your life and I thought you owned mine
A deception, feigning emotion to disregard this instance
My eyes have seen beauty with you and wished it forever
Only to remember it momentarily and ugly
Hours and minutes and seconds and milliseconds
Trashed, despondent, morose and heartless
The light that illuminates the darkest days
Has burned out and died
The new moon forever brightens my skies
Guidance is what all youth need
A blueprint, a foundation, a model indeed
For success! For survival and sustenance
What privilege has known and provides its maintenance
But when you're left alone all alone
