Mean World
The nature of this place is hurricanes and
earthquakes
Tsunamis and volcanoes and floods
Plagues and extinction have been its history
Snake bites and attacks from bears and jungle
cats
Spiders as big as your hand
Predators and prey and being eaten and
waiting to be ate
It is a mean world
A mean old world
An old mean fucking world
Where we’re the victims of its nature
Of loneliness and famine and uncontrollable
tides
Crumbling buildings and growth and
unavoidable destruction
Agony lies in this nature
We can’t control it
A detriment to our existence
Despite our attempts
Reconciling what can’t be controlled with
what can
Wars and starvation and molestation
Murder and loneliness and insanity
Overdoses and stray bullets
Thieves and rapists and tyrants
Abuse and misuse of power
The hate in your heart
The love that you know
This is a mean fucking world
A cantankerous old mean fucking world
And when it ends
It was long over due
