Valentine's Day, Today I Love You More

She got the flowers I retrieved
Man am I relieved
Today is not the day
To forget to prove or say
That I love you
What I must do
At the behest of societal convention
Is recognize and glorify this holiday's invention
I must join my lover and deny
All the other times I tried
To prove that I loved her
It is my fault I concur
I cannot figure out
Why this holiday's devout
Refuse to acknowledge or see
September 19th's company
Or how March 30th's value lasts
What about November 21st's or July 14th's laughs?
But I must conform for her happiness
With her in my arms I am blessed
All other days I will abhor
But February 14th I will not ignore
