Just An Update

2013 is coming to a close and as usual I don't have any resolutions. Also, I'm not going to review this past year. It is the past and fuck the past. I feel that I am always working on becoming a "better" person (and that means becoming undoubtedly more deplorable by the second). I am always changing and progressing (digressing). I don't need time or certain dates to tell me when I should lose weight or read more often.

That being said, I believe that I have to put myself out there more in 2014. I need to go to more live poetry readings and also read my poetry aloud. I need to immerse myself into the writing community of Los Angeles, something I have neglected to do. I can't keep relying upon a "Retweet" or a phantom discovery of my book on the plethora of websites my first book of poetry is available. Not that I hope that would happen because first and foremost I write for my own therapy, but it would be nice to get some recognition (good or bad) for my efforts. I do need to read more novels along with the immense amount of editorials and poetry that I read. That's something that I plan on doing right now. I'm going to join writing circles and go to open mic nights and poetry readings, swallow and denounce my insecurities and go out on that proverbial limb. If that limb breaks and I shatter every bone in my soft and fragile body and scar my delicate psyche then it had to be done.

Currently, I am working on my second book of poetry. Which will feature the second part of the three part epic Heavenly Decay. Heavenly Decay: part I was the epic poem that preceded the four years (or so) of poetry I had written in Someone Sinister which I released on May 2nd of 2013. My next book of poetry will not be as dense as it only contains my most recent work but I believe it will be just as impactful. I have grown as a poet and as a writer and I'm just fucking excited about the next part of the epic. It's going to be so gnarly. It's frightening how stimulated I get whilst writing it. It's like I'm watching porn or about to have sex with my incredibly sexy lover (without the joyous climax). I did the art for Someone Sinister's cover but I commissioned someone very near and dear to me, someone very beautiful and talented (and stimulating) to do the cover art for Universe Unravelling.

The "Cheers to the End of Martyrs" Collection is still on its way. I have all the designs pretty much finalized just getting the printer and materials to be printed upon in order. I am also still designing the t-shirt tags. Very early in 2014 is the release date. Also, working on a video to display the collection and if things go as planned I will be having a release party somewhere in Los Angeles. The release of the collection may coincide with the release of Universe Unravelling. But who knows? ;)

One more very important project that I am working on is my first short film. In 2013 I did a lot of interpretative work involving my poetry but I have a script I have been trying to develop for awhile now and we're going to finally bring it to life. I am in the pre-production stages currently but pretty soon we're going to have a casting call and try to find the actors who will fit my script and vision. That doesn't include all of the other visuals that I am working on for other poems.

I just plan to keep working on my art. Just a warning but postings may become more stagnant as a lot of what I am working on must happen off site. But who knows when I'm inspired to post a poem or two or a haiku?
