Bad Thoughts Talk Episode 2: The Absurdity of What "Should Be"
In this week's episode I attempted to try and bridge philosophy with what I feel are prevailing thoughts in the media and in the masses about the universe's design. I feel that a lot of people fall into this trap of idealism, where behavior should be standardized and free will is negated by societal standards.
I don't think I spoke about this in the video enough but I believe that self-introspection and self-awareness is pivotal to understanding the society that we're in and the world around us. I think that ultimately your success and your definition of success comes from this introspection. I think that this capitalists society is amazing at propagating that success is only achieved by outside accumulation. I am aware that it is difficult to assess yourself. It is detrimental, in my estimation, for people to constantly blame their place in society on outside forces.
I am not naive and my own experiences tell me that outside forces are a motherfucker to deal with. While I may not be able to control everything that happens to me, I can control my reaction and interpretation of what happens to me. Also, what happens to me isn't indicative of all of society, although it may be a symptom.
I hope you enjoy this episode and tune in next week!
