POETRY: I Thought We Been Doing That
I know what you're thinking
And you're right
I have been sinking
But is this the time to deride what you perceive are my social skills?
"This crisis will only bring us closer to that light
That glow that filled clubs and bars now closed all day and night
The flash that captured food hopes you can cook. Social distancing? Is this a drill?
Maybe in proximity but not dexterity
Is this isolation irony, parody, or parity?
Maybe this is our reaping
Society does not care for family and only wants its scarcity
Now many are forced to only find their thrills
All alone, not from the face an inch from their nose
But from the screen where they edit their pose."
I don't care about what you think or say you're just a critic anyway
I am not alone... I am fine!
I have my Followers, I have my wine, I have time...
I can do... I can go... I will still live for today!
No walls can hold me, I'm free. I am free!
"GET BACK IN YOUR HOME BEFORE YOU ARE EXPOSED"
"Now what do you have to say?"
I wish that I could see
That I have always been distant socially
