Poetry: The Unwritten Rules and It's Never Safe

The Unwritten Rules

The sun is about to fall from the sky
Don't be here when it's gone
"Why?"
"That is wrong, wrong, wrong!"
"I'll stay here until the dead of night..."
"Do not speak recklessly, always be careful with your words
Death is your only right especially if you're here after that sun falls
This rule isn't on the books but it's law!
Get the fuck outta here before we are under the shadow of the moon.
Death is the law for you"
But there are so many rules unwritten, that rule that define
Most laws do not have to be available on some town charter
The mores of a society are not only guided by the codes of their constitutions and
What has been codified and ordained, declared and decreed
Most often they are guided by the morality, the moral compass of corrupt adjudicators
Who can enforce a path for or against the overall moral compass of a society
Is that what is written in these law books here?
These laws do not apply to you or anyone like you but these laws over here
Are overwhelming your burden
You must act within this stricter, you only
There are laws that do apply and there are licenses that do not have to be obtained
These laws and licenses these ordinances aren't written but well known
So well known they don't have to be written it is innate
Like baseball, if you play the game you know the unwritten rules
All societies have their unwritten rules, codes of honor, deals based solely upon trust
A hermetic bond
We are not imminently governed by the written laws
We barter, we trade, we contract without type without documentation most often
"The sun is down and you're still here you're breaking the law."
"Says who?"
"Me and everyone else in this town. We understand jurisprudence we understand the right to a fair trial but around here YOU are automatically, instantaneously, condemned, we do not need a court or a judge's chambers to justify what comes from this barrel this chamber. Are you ready? The sun has fallen."
"I will not live by those rules! The written law is on my side, the written law is on my side."
"Why do you think any law applies to you? Written or unwritten? Who cares?
Raise your right hand!"
POW!
"Raise your left!"
POW!
"Raise them both!!"
POW! POW!
"Don't raise them, like your children
Do raise them like surrender or worship
People just aren't that smart today, they are dumb oh idiotic, oh stupid, stupendous
They pretend to know the rules they don't know
But they do
Especially when it comes to us, I mean you

It's Never Safe

This plan... I mean plan...
I mean pandemic tells me
When I had a cold
And worked through it, and was praised
By my boss, colleagues
That they were actually
Happy that I killed
Inadvertently, many
Probably millions
I should have stayed home that day
