POETRY: This Road I Love You!
In us is the same stone, iron and ire of the Cascades covered in evergreen emeralds
And is the same steel and resolve in the bridges that cross the Cedar and Colombia Rivers
Faced blades on the crazy streets made of concrete roses ephemeral
Those pedals kept us full until the Pacific coast shivers
Say cheese, smile at what only God could create
Faced blades on the crazy streets made of concrete roses ephemeral
Those pedals kept us full until the Pacific coast shivers
Say cheese, smile at what only God could create
Timidly, my fearful temperament fights against the edges of ruin
No guide around the sand dunes makes us long for a desert unforeseen
Our thirst for adventure indelibly quenched, we were drew in
The redwoods braved the same rain and the same years we ween
Golden lands tell us, salvation is closer today
The redwoods passed so did time we barely afforded
The roses of saints greet our Bay stay, where we agree
We would not stop again for the Bay has been corroded
May she be Heaven again, before she is engulfed in flames or falls into the sea
Yes! Fighting for where my children were born to be
Those that will deter, we may have to raise our rifles and pistols
If they do not constitute all we should want to need
We will prepare for times most abysmal
And for everything that the Los Angeles streets heed
In the fight for these roads, may by God, we be blessed!
